A four-step method that works
- Brief it like a colleague. Give context: subject, age, prior knowledge, duration, constraint. "A 50-minute introduction to fractions for 9-year-olds who struggled with division; I have plastic tokens; no worksheets" beats "make a maths lesson" every time.
- Ask for three versions, not one. Request a cautious version, an ambitious one, and a hands-on one. You are no longer accepting a proposal — you are choosing between directions, which is a teacher's act.
